SOUNDS FROM THE LOUNGE is a new intimate listening room experience for st. louis artists & afficianados.
Monthly on Sundays
Hey, it’s Samantha Clemons. As a local St. Louis singer-songwriter and arts advocate, I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing the immense talent that St. Louis’ music scene has to offer—both as an artist and an audience member.
In an interview with St. Louis Arts in January 2024, I had this to say about the importance of live music in the traditional sense:
There is an energy and singularity to the live music experience, and it’s something you really can’t capture in any other format. As a member of the audience, I always get lost in the stage dynamics, the way the performers engage with one another in service to the music and play off of the energy in the building. And from the artist’s perspective, I can tell you that no single performance is the same, no matter how many times you run down the set in rehearsal. There’s a symbiotic relationship that develops between the audience and the musicians on stage, and it’s different every single time. In short, if you’re not in the room where it’s happening and experiencing it firsthand, you’re missing out on some of the magic.
Since 2016, I’ve been dreaming up this show that was part songwriter’s circle, part curated conversation, part decompression chamber. Nine years later and it’s finally here.
I’m excited to see where it takes us.
Sounds From The Lounge will feature local St. Louis singer/songwriters in conversation around a unique theme—but always centered in the values of community, connection and collaboration.
SfTL hopes to cultivate an atmosphere that invites the listener into the creative process and inspires artists to lean in authentically.
